The Crime Desk:<\/strong> Bangladesh Bank has ordered to freeze the bank accounts of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s former personal assistant Jahangir Alam, his wife Kamrun Nahar, and their related organizations. They have also been asked to send all the information, including the account opening form, within the next five days.<\/p>\n

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) of the Central Bank sent instructions in this regard to all banks on Sunday (July 14).<\/p>\n

According to the instructions, if there are any accounts in the name of the mentioned individuals and the institutions owned by them in the banks or financial institutions, the transactions of those accounts have been instructed to be suspended for 30 days under Section 23(1)(c) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a press conference yesterday about her recent visit to China. In the context of taking action against corruption there, he brought forward the financial wealth of a former employee of his house. The Prime Minister said, ‘He worked in my house; he was a peon; now he owns 400 crore rupees. I can’t go without a helicopter. real talk\u00a0 How do you make so much money? After I found out, I took action.<\/p>\n

It has been found that this person’s name is Jahangir Alam, alias ‘Pani Jahangir’. His house is in Khilpara Union under Chatkhil Thana of Noakhali. Father Rahmat Ullah is deceased. Jahangir Alam worked as personal staff at her residence, ‘Sudha Sadan’, even when the current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was in the opposition party. At that time, this Jahangir used to carry the food and water that was taken from home for Sheikh Hasina in various programs. That is why he is known as ‘Pani Jahangir’. Later, when Sheikh Hasina became the prime minister, he worked as her personal servant.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a leading media outlet in the country said in a report that Jahangir of Chatkhil worked as a personal employee of the Prime Minister but used to introduce himself as a personal assistant. He earned crores of rupees by lobbying as the personal assistant of the Prime Minister. He built huge wealth in Noakhali and his capital, Dhaka. He was carrying a licensed pistol.<\/p>\n

Citing related sources, the media reported that a notification was issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on December 6 last year, alleging that Jahangir Alam was doing various immoral acts by posing as Sheikh Hasina’s personal assistant.<\/p>\n

It is also said in that report that Jahangir has become the owner of several plots in the capital, Dhaka. He bought a 2500-square-foot flat in Dhanmondi in his wife’s name. He also owns an eight-story house at Hari Narayanpur in the Maizdi town of Noakhali. That too is in his wife’s name. He also spent huge money in Noakhali to become a member of Parliament. Before the twelfth national election, he used to hold meetings with a huge fleet. He has spent lakhs of rupees for these meetings. Besides, he used to invite many influential government ministers and important people to his area at different times.
