The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is probing allegations of abuse of power, acquisition of illegal wealth through bribery, and money laundering against Motiur, a former member of the National Board of Revenue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The initial search revealed his assets worth hundreds of crores of rupees. But he has less wealth in his own name. He did more in the name of his wife, children, and relatives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Matiur did not own the houses he lived in with his family in his own name. The modern house in Bashundhara is named after Farzana Rahman Ipsita. In the name of his wife and brothers, he built huge properties, including factories and resorts. This information has been found in several related sources.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A perusal of income tax files revealed that Motiur&#8217;s criminal income has been used to set up factories in the names of non-earning family members.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Students have also become owners of hundreds of millions of rupees. Plots, flats, and land are scattered in the names of college teachers and housewives. In 2023, Motiur&#8217;s daughter, Ipsita, a Canadian expatriate, will disclose assets worth Rs 42 crore in her income tax returns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Out of this, 7 crore rupees have been invested in 5 companies. The prices of land and houses in Narsingdi, Gazipur, and Dhaka showed around 13 crore rupees. In real terms, the price of these assets is more than 70 crore rupees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Income tax documents also show that he has assets of Rs 22 crore through bank deposits, savings bonds, loans to his own company, and loans to his brother. Ipsita owns one and a half acres of land at Hebamule in Narsingdi. The income tax documents describe the land but do not mention the price.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The price of the luxurious seven-story house built in the Bashundhara residential area of the capital is only 5 crore rupees. The price of a flat of 1500 square feet with parking space in Neelkshet is only 60 lakh rupees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Like her daughter, Laila Kaniz Laki is also known to have abundant wealth. Income tax records show his wealth of only Rs 12 crore. On the contrary, he showed a bank loan of 2 crore rupees. Apart from this, Motiur has made huge wealth, including houses, cars, flats, several industrial establishments, and garments, in the name of brothers Qayyum Howladar and Nurul Hudar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Those concerned said that if Motiur is to be caught in the net of the law, a deep investigation will have to be done. Because he has built a mountain of wealth in the name of relatives, including his wife and children, and brothers and sisters on both sides, to keep himself out of touch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">14 days after the goat incident, the first wife Laki came in public, but still there is no whereabouts of Matiyur. He is not even going to work. He has been attached to the Ministry of Finance as a member of the NBR.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There, no one is opening up about whether he has submitted the application form through someone or taken leave, or what kind of departmental action can be taken against him if he does not submit the application form or does not take leave.
