International Desk:<\/strong> The court found the Nepalese priest ‘Buddha Boy’ guilty of sexually assaulting a minor. The real name of the 33-year-old spiritual leader is Ram Bahadur Bomjan.<\/p>\n

He was found guilty on Tuesday by Nepal’s southern Saralahi district court, an official said. Byomjan’s sentence will be announced on July 1. He is expected to be sentenced to at least 12 years in prison.<\/p>\n

Recently, a minor girl was raped in an ashram in the Sarlahi district of South Kathmandu. Byomjan was the main accused in that incident. After this incident, he was on the run for several years. He was accused of raping, molesting, and beating the followers of the ashram. Nepali police arrested him last January.<\/p>\n

The followers of that spiritual leader claimed that he was Gautama Buddha at his previous birth. It was said that he could spend months without water, food, or sleep. Although later the camera caught ‘Buddha Boy’ secretly eating food or falling asleep talking about personal pursuits, Allegations of ill-treatment and molestation have been pouring in against him for more than a decade.<\/p>\n

He was first charged in 2010 for allegedly beating up fans for disturbing meditation. In 2018, a nun complained that she was raped by the cleric. Apart from this, four followers of the same family disappeared from his ashram against him.<\/p>\n

Once upon a time, many people flocked to see his meditation in the forest. Many believed that he had miraculous powers. But as the controversy gradually increased, ‘Buddha Boy’ wanted to withdraw. In this situation, the controversial cleric was arrested in Kathmandu last January by the country’s police. Along with that, 2 lakh, 27 thousand Nepali dollars, and 23 thousand dollars in foreign currency were also seized from him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
