Because e-ticket ensures fare collection according to the distance, the passenger fare is decreasing, as a result the bus owner&#8217;s income is also decreasing. In such a situation, many transport owners will have to run buses at a loss if the company&#8217;s GP and invisible sector route expenses are not stopped. For a long time, no new investment is coming in the bus sector of the city service due to various reasons including traffic congestion, chadambazi. As a result, there is a fear that this sector will fall into a deep crisis in the coming days. This Thursday (November 24) in the Sagar Rooney Hall of Dhaka Reporters Unit, the speakers made the above comments in a discussion meeting organized by Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Association titled &#8220;E-ticketing in Dhaka City Bus Service: Expectations of Passengers&#8221;. .<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The vice-president of the organization Tawhidul Haque Liton presided over this meeting. In the discussion meeting, pictures of e-tickets issued by Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association and samples of e-tickets proposed by Passenger Welfare Association were displayed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Secretary General of Passenger Welfare Association Mozammel Haque Chowdhury said that the ticket means the receipt of the service price. According to the International Consumer Rights Act, there is an obligation to provide a receipt for every product or service. He thanked the leaders of Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association for coming forward to fulfill this by introducing e-ticketing service in city service buses after a long time. Each ticket is supposed to contain the name of the issuing bus, bus registration number, journey and destination name, distance, fare amount, travel date and complaint center numbers, but the currently provided e-ticketing system does not have this complete information. Some tickets only show the fare. He claimed that there is no name of the journey and destination, name and number of the bus, as a result of which the passengers have no chance to get redress if the extra fare is charged with these tickets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to an observation of the organization, there are mixed reactions among passengers, bus owners and workers regarding e-ticketing. After the introduction of e-ticketing, bus owners reduced the number of buses on various routes. Passengers of the city complain that the bus running on e-ticketing is charged 5 to 10 taka more than usual for the distance. For example, before Rampura to Demra staff quarters, the fare on this route was 20 taka, on e-ticketing, the fare for this route is 25 taka. But 20 taka fare is supposed to be collected on this 8 km road. From Khilkhet to Mirpur-2, 15 taka was charged before, but after the launch of e-ticketing, 20 taka is being charged. On the other hand, there are instances of fare reduction in some routes, such as Rakibul Hasan, a regular passenger on the Khilkhet to Mirpur-11 route, used to travel on this route for Tk 30, but after the introduction of e-ticketing, he is regularly traveling at Tk 22. From Asadgate to Mirpur-1, the fare is Tk 25, but in e-ticketing, the fare of this route has come down to Tk 13. The fare from Sheorapara to Dhanmondi-27 was previously charged at Tk 20, but the e-ticketing reduced the fare to Tk 13. From Rampura to Kuril Bishwar Road, 20 taka fare was collected earlier, but 15 taka is being charged for e-ticketing. Fare from Mirpur-1 to Gabtali was 20 taka earlier, e-ticketing is taking 10 taka. Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity has observed that the previous fare of Sava from Mirpur-1 was Tk 40, but it has come down to Tk 30 in e-ticketing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mozammel Haque Chowdhury also said that it is important to confirm the appointment letter, salary and overtime of the driver-assistant according to the conditions of determining the fare. If the noisy buses are removed, the overall environment of the buses is improved, the city service is built on the model of the modern world, if the government sets the fares and ensures various facilities including separate dedicated lanes for the buses, people will gradually turn to buses. Dependence on small transport including motorcycles will be reduced, resulting in reduced traffic congestion and cost of human travel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Organizing Secretary of Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association Ed. Mahbubur Rahman said that e-ticketing was introduced earlier in the developed world, but it was introduced in Bangladesh 4 years ago. E-ticketing has been introduced to eliminate fare anarchy in capital&#8217;s buses. As a result, the unfair competition between buses will stop as well as stop collecting extra fares in the name of waybills. He also said that Lakkar-Jhakkar buses will be stopped in the capital from November 30. All bus services will be upgraded.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Habibur Rahman, another organizing secretary of Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association, said that we have continued various activities to establish order in the buses of Dhaka city. We have held several meetings with marginal level bus owners under the leadership of the General Secretary. After the launch of e-ticketing, the errors noticed and the complaints received by the passengers will be resolved gradually.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Swadesh Kumar Dash, Deputy Director of Dhaka Division (Engineering) of BRTA, said that BRTA has been conducting regular mobile courts with the aim of enforcing the government fixed fares on buses in the capital. This activity will be strengthened in the future.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Insur Ali, general secretary of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers League and member of the lowest wage board in the privately owned road transport industry, said that for a long time city buses and minibuses were running on daily leases by drivers and assistants. After the introduction of e-tickets, driver-assistants will be deprived of cash income.
