About 300 families there suffered. Besides, alert-4 was issued at the port, and all activities at the jetty, outer anchorage, and yard were stopped. Bangabandhu Tunnel was also closed for 12 hours starting at 6 p.m. yesterday. Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport has been closed for the next 17 hours, starting at noon. It has been drizzling since yesterday, under the influence of Remal. The Patenga Meteorological Office recorded 6.6 millimeters of rain in the last 24 hours until 3 p.m. on this day. But it rains late at night, even though it is closed in the evening. Earlier, due to the fear of Remal hitting Chittagong, the Meteorological Department issued a special notification (Serial 10) at 8:00 a.m. for Chittagong and Kongbazar sea ports. After that, Chittagong City Corporation (CHSIC) and district administration started various precautionary activities in the city and upazila to avoid possible damage. Shelters are prepared. Among them, the district administration evacuated 11 thousand 806 people safely in 453 shelters of 6 coastal upazilas of Sandwip, Mirsarai, Sitakunda, Anwara, Karnaphuli, and Banshkhali upazilas till 8 o&#8217;clock last night.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chasik also spent the day miking people in coastal areas to evacuate to safety with the help of the Red Crescent. Residents in vulnerable areas, including the foothills, are also urged to evacuate to safer shelters. Chasik kept 81 of their educational institutions ready for use as shelters. Meanwhile, the direction signed by the district education officer, Uttam Khisa, directed the headmasters of the schools to suspend the class activities of secondary or equivalent educational institutions in Chittagong district on May 27 due to Cyclone Remal. At the same time, heads of institutions are asked to be prepared to use the infrastructure of educational institutions if necessary to deal with the cyclone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tidal water in Patenga Jelepara: The sea was rough due to the effect of Remal. The height of the tide has increased. The Jalepara of Akmal Ali Road adjacent to the Patenga embankment drowned. It is outside the embankment. So water enters there quickly. Water entered almost all the houses and shops in this fishing village. However, with the increase in the warning signal of the cyclone, they took shelter with their necessary goods, including nets and boats. So avoid major damage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Various preparations of Chasik: Chasik held an emergency meeting yesterday to determine what to do to deal with the disaster. City Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said that all the educational institutions in Chasik will be closed on Monday (today). The infrastructure of the corporation&#8217;s 81 educational institutions will be used as shelters to avoid damage if Cyclone Remal hits.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said that on Saturday morning, I had ordered Miking to alert the people staying in dangerous areas. A control room has been opened in the electricity sub-division office of Chasik in Dampara. Control room contact number: 2333389121 or 2333389122. Besides, I have instructed the ward councilors to seriously monitor the matter of taking the people staying in the vulnerable areas of their respective wards to the shelters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The mayor said that all the departments of Chasik are active in reducing the damage caused by the disaster. Besides, the Red Crescent is also cooperating.
