The operational work of the port has been declared completely closed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alert-4 was issued at Chittagong port at 9:30 am after the announcement of distress signal number 9 at Chittagong port from the Directorate of Meteorology on Sunday (May 26) at 9 am.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chittagong Port Secretary Omar Farooq said that after issuing Alert-1 at night, all ships on the jetty have been evacuated during high tide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said, &#8220;Alert-4 has been issued in the port. All operational activities at the port have been declared closed. Vessels at outer anchorage have also been directed to remain safe, maintain constant communication with the port, and follow necessary instructions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also said, &#8220;I have taken all kinds of preparations to protect the Chittagong port from the cyclone.&#8221; All vessels have been evacuated from the port jetty. Now all the equipment is gathered in one place and kept safe. The port authority has launched an emergency control room to deal with the cyclone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, on Sunday (May 26) morning, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in a special notification that Cyclone Remal has become stronger and has become a severe cyclone. It is approaching the Khulna and Barisal coasts of Bangladesh. The severe cyclone is located less than 300 km from the coast of Bangladesh.
