Yesterday, Khaled Mahmud Sujan’s Abahani had to fight in the 4th field of BKSP in Savar. Coach Sujan got some relief after getting Tanjim Hasan Shakib, Tanveer Islam, and Afif Hossain Dhrub, who were returned from the national team at the last minute. And that’s what Bajimat did. It is said that he succeeded in fielding Abahani’s’second team’. Abahani secured this year’s DPL title by defeating Sheikh Jamal of Shakibs by 4 wickets with 2 matches in hand.<\/p>\n

After this victory, many say that if any new player is brought to the field in Abahani’s jersey, then they will also be able to win. The power of the club’s jersey or so! But be that as it may, the way the team pulled off the win yesterday had to be earned not just by the power of the jersey but by proving themselves by showing strength. In the suffocating match led by Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Abahani took the win in the last over, as if it spread the thrill of the final match itself.<\/p>\n

Batting first at 9 a.m., Sheikh Jamal scored 267 runs in the allotted 50 overs. Shakib-Ziaur Rahman played an important role in scoring so many runs in this match. Sheikh Jamal was picked up by Saikat Ali and Shakib after losing three wickets for 15 runs. The team overcame the initial shock with the duo’s 72-run partnership. In the end, captain Saikat secured the victory by picking up a half century from the wicket. Behind this victory came 67 runs from the bat of Vijay, Afif’s 83, and Nahidul Islam’s 24. At the end of the match, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat said, ‘Great, actually a matter of pride. I knew it would be easy to tackle 260-270 runs. But towards the end, the ball was not hitting the bat properly, making it a bit difficult to score runs. But the way the batsmen needed to bat, they went ahead till the very last moment. At the end, a boundary between Rakibul and Shakib was very important for our team. We won the match because of them. We were playing with only five batters.
