Alamgir said that the confidence of the people of the country has returned in the elections. 60 to 80 percent of the voters attended the elections held yesterday in different parts of the country despite the intense heat. Surely there is confidence among the people that they can vote now. I can cast my vote.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">EC Alamgir said these things in an exchange meeting organized with the district returning officer, assistant returning officer, and law and order forces in the Rajbari District Commissioner&#8217;s conference room on the occasion of the Sixth Upazila Parishad election on Monday (April 29) morning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This election commissioner also said, &#8216;If the people of Bangladesh get a good environment, then they consider voting a festival. As part of that festival, we think the voter turnout in the upcoming Upazila Parishad elections will be good. Yes, people will suffer a little due to heat. Even then, people will come to vote.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also warned the ministers, MPs, and other government officials to refrain from any kind of campaigning on behalf of the candidates in the election.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said that if a minister, MP, or a relative of a senior government official holding various posts is a candidate, they cannot campaign on their behalf or take sides. Even if they do this, the candidate&#8217;s candidature will be cancelled, and action will also be taken against that minister, MP, or officer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">EC Alamgir said that voting has a fixed time. Elections have to be completed in between. If not, various legal problems arise. Apart from administrative and political problems, peace and order are also disturbed. For this, the election has to be completed before the specified period.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also said that there was no intense heat when the election schedule was announced. India has more heat than us. In the meantime, they did not stop the national elections. The temperature is increasing every year in our country. We may have to live with it in the future. You have to live your life in the meantime. We continue our external work. Nothing was stopped for heatstroke. It would not be wise to hold off on elections.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also said that most of our polling stations have paved buildings and trees. Voters can stand in the shade. Every polling station will have water supply. And the voters will leave by voting. That won&#8217;t be too much of a problem. Already, we have been able to complete the Union Parishad municipal elections in a peaceful environment in some districts. I have not received any news that there is any problem with heat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Deputy Commissioner of Rajbari Abu Qaiser Khan, Superintendent of Police GM Abul Kalam Azad, and officials of various departments related to the election were present in the exchange meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka Bureau: Election Commissioner.
