Lakhs of workers involved in this industry are working day and night in equal rhythm. Businessmen think that they will be able to sell shoes and sandals worth Tk 200 crore this Eid-ul-Fitr.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bhairav&#8217;s footwear manufacturing, which started before independence, has now developed into a viable industry. Even though there is less and less work throughout the year, Eid actually increases the busyness of workers in factories several times. They consider this time of the year to be the prime season for business. But factory owners and workers believe that the increase in the price of imported raw materials for footwear manufacturing may affect the industry after Eid.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bhairab shoes are famous all over the country. Wholesalers from different parts of the country are flocking to Bhairab&#8217;s footwear markets. Due to its quality, durability, and attractive appearance, Bhairav footwear is now being exported to foreign markets beyond the borders of the country. Every day, thousands of cartoon shoes are being shipped to different parts of the country, including the capital, Dhaka, by rail, road, and sea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is known that lakhs of workers are working day and night in nearly two thousand footwear factories. The factories are making shoes of various colors and modern designs for men and children. Making footwear involves various tasks like design, sole, stitching, cutting, pasting, dyeing, solution, and upper making. According to each type of work, shoemakers work in factories. Depending on the type of work, the artisans get a wage of Tk 300 to Tk 700 per dozen. However, the artisans are not happy with the labor and work-wise pricing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sohrab Mia is from the Lakshmipur area of Bhairab. He learned shoemaking from his father and grandfather. His family lives on the earnings of this job. But now he is not earning much from making shoes. He said that at the rate at which the prices of daily commodities are increasing day by day, our income is not increasing. So we can&#8217;t survive doing this anymore.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another shoemaker is Abu Kalam. He lives with his family in Jagannathpur, Bhairav. He said our footwear manufacturing business increases for one month of the year around Eid. But for the remaining 11 months, we have to go very hard. In fact, as the price of various materials in shoemaking increases, the work also decreases. We have no income. So we are a bit worried about the future of this profession.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are about 2000 small and big shoe factories in Bhairab. Where millions of shoemakers are working. As the capital, so is the type of business. Everyone is involved in this business through genealogy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Md. Ali Hossain, Md. Sharif, and Babul Baid own various small and big factories. They say that for the past few years, their footwear business has been busy only for one month. And that too is centered on Eid. As the reason for the decrease in business during the rest of the year, they are talking about the increase in the price of different raw materials for making footwear, both domestic and foreign. They also think that the footwear industry will be threatened if the price of various materials for making footwear is not reduced.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, around 5,600 small and large raw material shops have been built around Bhairav&#8217;s footwear business. They sell the materials needed to make shoes to various factories. However, currently, they are also in trouble. Traders of these raw materials said that various materials for making footwear have to be imported from India, China, and Myanmar. They also had to increase their prices due to higher import prices. This has affected the small factories. Due to this, small traders are making less footwear. And their footwear-making materials are also selling less. If the shoes are not made, the artisans will not be able to earn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wholesalers from different parts of the country said that Bhairab&#8217;s footwear has been valued for 60 years due to its transportation and transportation facilities. Also, Bhairav shoes are affordable in design, quality, and price. As a result, they buy the shoes here and sell them in different parts of the country. So they demanded government patronage for the expansion of the footwear industry here.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">General Secretary of Bhairav Footwear Factory Owners Cooperative Society. Al Amin told the media that Bhairab has the largest footwear industry in the country in terms of factories. Bhairab is second only to the capital, Dhaka, as a wholesale market. Gradually, the footwear industry is growing. So if the government arranges bank loans on easy terms for businessmen, then small and medium businessmen will have to play a greater role in this industry. This time, there is a possibility of selling footwear worth 200 crore rupees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also said that if the government pays attention to this industry, then the footwear industry will also play a role in the country&#8217;s economy, like the clothing sector.
