Sirajganj Correspondent:<\/strong> Raihan Sharif, a teacher at Shaheed M Mansoor Ali Medical College in Sirajganj who came under discussion after shooting a student in the classroom, has been accused of intimidating students, harassing female students, showing a pistol in the classroom, and always walking around with weapons.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday (March 6), it was revealed that Raihan Sharif had eaten nearly 11,000 taka left in the college canteen in the last 10 months after going to Shahid M. Mansoor Ali Medical College. He threatened to shoot if he asked for money.<\/p>\n

Canteen owner Swapan Islam said Raihan Sharif used to say that if he wanted money, he would give it later. Later, when he asked, he would take out a pistol and threaten him.<\/p>\n

Raihan Sharif is the son of Abdur Razzak, the former principal of Sirajganj Government College. I studied at Rajshahi Medical College (Ramek). He was the vice president of the Ramek Chhatra League.<\/p>\n

After the internship there, he took a job as a teacher at a private medical college in Sirajganj. However, he was fired from there due to violent behavior.<\/p>\n

Raihan Sharif was married to a woman doctor in her personal life, but that marriage did not last. He joined government service in 2021 with BCS (Special BCS).<\/p>\n

Zahurul Haque, associate professor of the community medicine department of the private North Bengal Medical College in Sirajganj city, said that Raihan Sharif was working as a medical officer in the pediatric department of the North Bengal Medical College in 2017. Even then, he created a fear of weapons in college. Later, the head of the children’s department. The matter came to the attention of the authorities when Liaquat threatened Ali with a pistol in his head. He was then fired.<\/p>\n

North Bengal Medical College Head of Children’s Department Dr. Liaquat Ali said, “Raihan Sharif threatened me with a pistol on my head regarding the distribution of responsibility in the hospital.” Later, when he reported the matter to the authorities, he was fired.<\/p>\n

A grocer in the city’s BA College Road area, on condition of anonymity, said teacher Raihan Sharif used to scare everyone with a pistol. It became his habit. But I never shot anyone before. This is the first time I have heard that a student was shot. It became his hobby to buy weapons and store them in his home.<\/p>\n

Former Chhatra League leader of Sirajganj, Ashiq Imran, said that recently, teacher Raihan Sharif was threatening a rickshaw puller with a pistol in front of Abhisina Hospital in the city. I was there then. I thought he was an administration person.<\/p>\n

Former Chhatra League leader of Rajshahi Medical College, Kamal Hossain, said Raihan Sharif is a bit of a rough type of person. Suddenly, I saw in the news that a student of the medical college was shot.<\/p>\n

Students of Mansoor Ali Medical College said that teacher Sharif used to go to the dormitory sometimes. Students were encouraged to consume drugs. He used to keep weapons out on the table while teaching in the classroom and chatting with the teachers.<\/p>\n

The students said that Raihan Sharif got angry with the students before shooting Tamal. He said, Do any of you have pet birds? I have pet birds. Saying this, he took out the pistol from the bag and said, “This is my pet bird.” Then shot. The bullet hits Tamal’s right thigh. Later, when the classmates called 999, the Sadar police station and the detective branch (DB) of the district police reached the spot and arrested Raihan Sharif with weapons.<\/p>\n

It is to be noted that teacher Sharif shot a student named Arafat Amin Tamal (22) during the class last Monday (March 4) afternoon. After this incident, the police filed a case against Raihan Sharif at the Sadar police station for the crime of possession of illegal weapons. Besides, Abdullah Al Amin, the father of the injured student, filed another case. Sharif has been arrested in these cases. He is currently in jail.<\/p>\n

Raihan Sharif confessed in court that he shot the student. However, he pulled out the pistol to intimidate. But unintentionally, the bullet went out.<\/p>\n

Raihan Sharif also spoke to the three-member investigation committee formed by the Health Department regarding the shooting incident. He admitted that he had two pistols. However, none are licensed. He also admitted to displaying firearms on several occasions.<\/p>\n

Sharif told the investigation committee that he used to do this to make the students focus on their studies.<\/p>\n

When asked about the activities of Raihan Sharif, the principal of Shaheed M. Mansoor Ali Medical College, Amirul Hossain Chowdhury, said that ordinary students did not tell me anything in writing or verbally. However, I have learned about this teacher’s activities in a different way. Later, I tried to transfer him, but it did not happen.<\/p>\n

Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sirajul Islam said that Raihan Sharif was arrested in a separate case and sent to Sirajganj Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday (March 5) afternoon. The judge later recorded his confession and sent him to jail.<\/p>\n

He also said that two foreign pistols, 81 bullets, four magazines, and 12 foreign knives were seized from Raihan Sharif during the arrest.<\/p>\n

After the shooting incident, this reporter inquired about Raihan Sharif’s former and current workplaces. It is known that he kept a pistol with him all the time. Rameke used to beat up students and fire blanks on campus late at night.<\/p>\n

On November 6, 2016, Sharif was on duty as an intern doctor in a ward of Ramek Hospital. On that day, a patient named Joy died in that ward. When they protested, he pointed the pistol at Joy’s relatives.<\/p>\n

After this incident, on November 13 of that year, a patient named Mohsin Ali died without treatment in the hospital. Raihan Sharif also threatened Mohsin’s two sons with a pistol that day.<\/p>\n

At that time, Mohsin’s wife said in a manabandhan that an intern doctor threatened to shoot my sons. Later, they beat my sons without firing a shot and cracked their heads. Raihan Sharif beat up two patients in Ramek Hospital after this incident.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a picture of Raihan Sharif pointing a pistol at a passenger in a bus has gone viral on social media and Facebook amid the student shooting incident. However, nothing is known about when or where the photo was taken.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
