The meeting started by cutting the cake in the Bethel Para Community Center Hall Room of Ruma Upazila on Tuesday (March 5) around 11:15 AM. The meeting between the two sides lasted for about three hours.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The meeting was attended by 13 members led by the convenor of the Hill Region Peace Committee and chairman of Bandarban Zilla Parishad K. Shai Hla, and 8 members led by KNF general secretary Laljungmoy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Other members of KNF who participated in the meeting were: organizing secretary Lalsanglam, advisor LalAnglian, executive member Pastor Vanlian Bum, Graham Bum, advisory congregation member Ruallin Bum, Sangpah Khumi, and Azou Lusai.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kuki-China National Front (KNF) organizing secretary Lalsangalam said that the demands that were signed through discussion in the last meeting have not been implemented. Seven new demands have been added along with them. Hopefully, the peacekeeping committee will work on that and bring a benefit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kanchan Joy Tangchangya, the spokesperson for the Peacekeeping Committee, said that there are some demands that are negotiable for the Peacekeeping Committee. I am discussing them now. The demands, which are not possible for us, are forwarded to the central government. We have taken note of the seven proposals that they presented in today&#8217;s discussion. The Peacekeeping Committee and KNF members are also hopeful that a peaceful situation will be maintained in the area during the dialogue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After the meeting, peace establishment committee convener and Zilla Parishad chairman K. Shai Hla told reporters that according to the decision made in the first meeting in 2023, several more demands have been added. The demands of the KNF will be presented to the government.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Additional Deputy Commissioner (Acting) Saiful Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner SM Manjurul Haque, Additional Police Superintendent Abdul Karim, Peace Establishment Committee Spokesperson Kanchenjoy Tanchangya, Laljar Lom Bam, Lal Thang Jel, Lal Bhan Teeling Bam, Monirul Islam Manu, Ujjwal Tanchangya, Siong Khumi, Singyoung Mro, Kripa Tripura, along with members of the police and BGB intelligence agencies, were present.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bandarban Correspondent: For the second time, the Peace Stabilization Committee held a meeting with the Kuki-Chinese National Front (KNF) in person to restore peace in the hills.
