At that time, the police fired at least 27 rounds of blank bullets to bring the situation under control. This spread panic among the common people. However, no casualty was reported in the incident.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, in this incident, the police conducted a raid at night and arrested 5 people from Badaghat area. On the other hand, since the incident, many of the organizing committee are in hiding to avoid arrest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The incident took place at Badaghat market in Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj at around 12:30 pm on Monday (February 19).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is known that Tafsirul Qur&#8217;an Mahfil was organized for two days under the banner of Hillful Fujul Parishad Badaghat in Badaghat Bazaar of Tahirpur Upazila. The organizers tried to bring the discussed Islamic speaker Maulana Rafiqul Islam Madani on Monday night. But due to the lack of permission from the administration, Maulana Madani stayed outside the Mahfil at Badaghat market at around 12 o&#8217;clock in the night. Later, there was a lot of negotiation between the administration and the organizers. In the end, the organizing committee declared the end of the mahfil as the matter was not resolved.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When the mahfil was declared over, people got angry. Later, a section of the angry mob went to the Badaghat Police Investigation Center and started pelting bricks and causing vandalism. At this time, the vandals tore down the bamboo fence and signboard of the investigation center. Police fired 27 rounds of blank bullets to bring the situation under control.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A member of the organizing committee, on condition of anonymity, told the reporter, &#8220;We were forbidden by the administration not to bring Maulana Rafiqul Islam Madani to the mahfil venue. We also did not take Maulana Madani to the mahfil according to the administration. And declare the ceremony over. Later, a part of the angry crowd went to the local police camp and ransacked it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mohammad Nazim Uddin, OC of Tahirpur police station, said that preparations are underway to file a case for obstructing police work in this incident. 5 people were arrested that night.
