Later, he was sent to jail by the court under Section 54. The allegation against him is that he has spread propaganda against Mymensingh City Corporation Mayor Ekramul Haque Titu through poster design. Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Main Uddin confirmed the matter on Tuesday (February 20) morning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier on Sunday (February 18) around 10:30 p.m., the police arrested him from Graffiti, a business owned by poet Shamim Ashraf, located in the Atharobari building area of the city. On Monday (February 19) at noon, the police sent Shamim Ashraf to jail in a section 54 case.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Before the arrest of poet Shamim Ashraf, at around 9:30 p.m., Mymensingh District Chhatra League President Al Amin and General Secretary Humayun Kabir came to the graffiti and accused the recently former Mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation, Ikramul Haque Titu, of making propaganda posters. At that time, they were live on Facebook. District Awami League vice president and mayor Titu&#8217;s elder brother, Md, came to graffiti after this incident. Aminul Haque Shamim. Later, the police arrested Shamim Ashraf and took him to the police station.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A. League president&#8217;s press conference to protest the arrest of the poet<br \/>\nDistrict Awami League president and mayoral candidate Md. Ehteshamul Alam held a press conference at Mymensingh Press Club on Monday (February 19) afternoon, accusing Shamim Ashraf of being unfairly harassed and protesting defamatory comments on Facebook Live by sitting on his organization&#8217;s graffiti.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the press conference, he said, I am a mayoral candidate in the city elections. In this situation, another mayoral candidate&#8217;s elder brother (Aminul Haque Shamim) made defamatory propaganda using my name in public and on Facebook Live. Mainly out of a personal grudge against me for not voting for him and voting for Boat in the last parliamentary elections, he indulged in a smear campaign against me. I strongly condemn and protest this incident. At this time, he drew the attention of the administration to look into the incident seriously and said, Take swift action against those who want to disturb Mymensingh. Otherwise, if Bangabandhu&#8217;s ideological leaders and activists create a strong mass wave, I will not be able to accept the responsibility as the president of the district Awami League.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What the OC said<br \/>\nKotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Main Uddin said Shamim Ashraf was arrested under Section 54 and sent to court.
