Keeping such provisions, the Cabinet has given in-principle and final approval to the draft of the &#8216;Village Courts (Amendment) Act, 2024&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This approval was given in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday (February 11). The meeting was held at the Prime Minister&#8217;s office. At the end of the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain informed us of this information.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mahbub Hossain also said that the principle and final approval of the draft law were given last year. But as it is not presented in parliament and a new cabinet is formed, there is a rule to get approval from the new cabinet. The Cabinet has given its final approval.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said that the financial power (power to impose a fine) of the village court has been increased from 75 thousand to 3 lakh taka in the new law. The village court consists of five people, including the chairman.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said that if one person is absent at any time, the number of members of the court becomes four. In such a situation, the absent member will be given seven days to appear. If he is not present in the meantime, then the power of the chairman is retained in the voting, and the chairman can cast one additional vote.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There was a gap in the earlier law; when one of the parties died while the case was pending, there was uncertainty about the future of the case.
