Comilla Correspondent:<\/strong> Farmer Harunur Rashid was tortured by two women usurers after he was unable to pay interest in Muradnagar. Unable to bear this insult, the farmer committed suicide. His wife, Achia Begum, has complained. On Tuesday morning, the police recovered the hanging body of Harunur Rashid (50), who had a rope tied around his neck to a tree near the pond of his house. His body was handed over to the family in the afternoon after the post-mortem at Comilla Medical College Hospital.<\/p>\n

Rashid is the son of Abdul Mannan of Maiakanda village in the Dhamghar union of Muradnagar upazila. Rashid took a loan of 70 thousand taka from Shahid Mia’s daughter, Beauty Akhtar, and Hiron Mia’s daughter, Najma Begum, of the same village. Beauty and Najma dragged Rashid out of his house on Monday night as he could not pay the interest of 26,000 taka per year. Later, they took off his lungi and genji and tortured him. At that time, the people around Rashid’s screams came forward and threw him away. Unable to bear this insult, farmer Rashid committed suicide the next morning by hanging a rope around his neck.<\/p>\n

Muradnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Prabash Chandra Dhar said that a case of wrongful death has been filed in this matter. The necessary action will be taken after verifying the post-mortem report.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
