Cox’s Bazar Correspondent:<\/strong> The shelling is going on across Myanmar at the Teknaf border in Cox’s Bazar. Those bullets landed at Nurul Islam’s residence on the other side of the Bangladesh border.<\/p>\n

The incident took place on Saturday (January 27) around 3:30 p.m. in Ulubnia village, Ward No. 1, Hoikang Union, Teknaf. Nurul Islam’s mother-in-law, Samjida Begum, said this.<\/p>\n

He said, “Since 10:30 Saturday morning, the sounds of mortar shells and bullets have been coming from the side of the Myanmar border in Hoikung Ulubnia in Teknaf. We fled to safety in fear and panic. Suddenly, I saw a heavy gunshot. Then I saw a bullet entering the tin door of my daughter’s son-in-law’s residence. Then we panicked. Later, the BGB members got the news, and they came and took the bullet from the courtyard of the residence.<\/p>\n

Another local resident. Soleman said, “I can’t stay at home with the sound of gunfire across Myanmar.” A bullet hit Nurul Islam’s residence on Saturday.<\/p>\n

For the past week, I have felt unsafe across this border due to the sound of mortar shells and gunfire. Having to live in fear day and night with children.<\/p>\n

Sirajul Mostafa Lalu, a local UP member, said, “There has been a lot of shelling across the Myanmar border in Teknaf’s Hoikung Ulubnia, Tulatuli, and Kanjarpara during the week. We cannot stay at home because of fear. I can’t even get around the shrimp. During the movement of fire across the border, a bullet hit the residence of Nurul Islam in Ulubonia. There is still massive shelling going on across the border.<\/p>\n

Teknaf Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate. Erfanul Haque Chowdhury said, “Through the locals, I heard that bullets have been fired at a residential house on the Ulubnia border, across from Myanmar. Locals have been asked to stay safe in this incident of gunfire.<\/p>\n

When the local BGB was called to inquire about this, the call was not received.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud said in response to a question from journalists at Rashtriya Guest House Padma in the capital on Saturday afternoon, “Bangladesh border guards are on high alert in the context of the tense situation in Myanmar’s Rakhine State. The current situation in Myanmar may have a negative impact on the repatriation of Rohingyas.
