The shoe-throwing incident took place in the Shantirhat area of Patia upazila on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway on Saturday, December 30. However, the member secretary of the boat election management committee, Professor Harunur Rashid, said that they did not have any worker supporters there. For the past 15 years, Whip and his brothers have been torturing ordinary people in that area, and they have thrown shoes in anger.<\/p>\n

It is reported that the independent candidate was blocked on the road for an hour in the face of the angry crowd. Patia Upazila Awami, who was in the independent candidate’s car, shouted slogans against controversial leader M. Ejaz Chowdhury and demanded that he get down from the car.<\/p>\n

At this time, the angry crowd started chanting Ejaz as Yaba emperor. Independent candidate Samshul threw shoes at Haque Chowdhury’s car. Traffic stopped on both sides of the road during the incident. On getting the news that the independent candidate was blocked for an hour, the Awami League leaders, along with the general secretary of Kusumpura Union, Awami League Advocate M. Hoshain Rana, went to the spot, removed the angry crowd from the road, and helped the candidate go safely.<\/p>\n

At one stage of shoe throwing, the independent candidate’s brother, Fazlul Haque Chowdhury, hit Prakash Mohabbat (56) on the head. While running away from the car, Mohabbat asked the candidate’s brother to ‘get up and sit’. In the name of development in the last 15 years, the candidate’s brother Mohabbat was accused of looting, irregularity, encroachment, and trade, which caused incidents such as making him sit by the ear.

It is known that Samshul Haque Chowdhury, an independent candidate from Chittagong City, was supposed to hold a public meeting in Kusumpura in the morning on Saturday morning. When the convoy reached the Jiri Madrasah Gate area of Shantirhat in Patia, men and women started throwing shoes from both sides of the road. At this time, Samshul Haque Chowdhury was blocked on the road.<\/p>\n

Eyewitnesses said that on hearing the news that an independent candidate was going to the house of Upazila Awami League ousted leader Ejaz, the crowd got excited and threw shoes.<\/p>\n

Advocate M. Hossain Rana, general secretary of the Kusumpura Union Awami League, said that a women’s activist meeting was going on at the Shantirhat Nauka office on Saturday morning. While the meeting was going on, we came to know that the independent candidate was blocked on the road in the Madrasah Gate area, and we rushed to rescue him and help him to reach him safely. Earlier, the controversial leader was heard to have thrown a shoe at Ejaz, demanding that he get out of the car.
