In order to recognize their contribution, the government led by Hon&#8217;ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared December 30 as &#8216;National Expatriate Day&#8217;. The day is being celebrated for the first time this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The Ambassador said that the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut will provide special consular and welfare services to expatriates working in Lebanon in addition to regular services during &#8220;Special Services Week.&#8221; He called upon Bangladeshi expatriates in Lebanon to receive special services from the embassy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The ambassador also said that the closing ceremony of the service week will be organized in the presence of the expatriates working in Lebanon on December 31, and the highest remittance senders will be honored among the Bangladeshi expatriates in Lebanon. The ambassador said that Bangladeshi expatriate workers working in Lebanon have become irregular due to various reasons. Communication with the Lebanese authorities regarding their legalization continues, and the embassy is working on the signing of a bilateral agreement on labor market management between the governments of Bangladesh and Lebanon.<br style=\"color: #252525;\" \/>\u00a0\u00a0<br style=\"color: #252525;\" \/>The ambassador noted that, considering the economic condition of expatriates, the decision to raise the minimum monthly salary of female workers from $200 to $300 and the minimum monthly salary of male workers from $300 to $350 has been implemented.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The ambassador called upon Bangladeshi expatriates to abide by Lebanon&#8217;s social norms and state laws and work with reputation to keep the country&#8217;s reputation intact.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Ryan Askar, Director of Political Affairs for the Asia, Africa, and Oceania Region of Lebanon&#8217;s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, also spoke at the event.<br style=\"color: #252525;\" \/>The Ambassador auspiciously inaugurated the &#8220;Special Service Week&#8221; organized by Bangladesh Embassy Beirut on the occasion of National Expatriate Day 2023 in the presence of a significant number of expatriate Bangladeshis, representatives of the Lebanese government, representatives of IOM Lebanon, and various non-governmental organizations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">In the event, the first secretary (labour) of the embassy, Mohammad Anwar Hossain, presented a power point presentation on the multifaceted initiatives of the Bangladesh government for the welfare of expatriates and the services provided by the Bangladesh embassy in 2023.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Representatives of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), non-governmental organization MSD, Amel Association, Legal Action World Wide, MSF, and remittance company Cash United Moneygram, as well as all embassy officials, attended the opening ceremony of the Special Service Week on the occasion of &#8220;National Diaspora Day 2023.&#8221; was present<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Representatives of various organizations present at the event exchanged views with the ambassador on issues related to the interests of Bangladesh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Crime Desk: Bangladesh Ambassador to Lebanon Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanveer Khan inaugurated Special Service Weekon December 26 at 3.00 pm in the meeting room of the embassy organized on the occasion of National Expatriate Day 2023 and International Migration Day 2023 (December er 26-31).
