The Crime Desk:<\/strong> Today (December 11), the world’s largest anti-corruption conference of the United Nations is starting in Atlanta, USA.<\/p>\n

It is known that the delegation of Bangladesh is participating in the tenth ‘session of the Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention Against Corruption’, which will begin today. Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Commissioner Asia Khatun is leading the Bangladesh delegation at the conference. ACC Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain and other officials have already reached Atlanta.<\/p>\n

The United States, as the host of this year’s conference, is bringing together world leaders to make policy decisions to prevent and fight corruption. The conference held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Martin Luther King’s city of Atlanta is the largest anti-corruption conference in the world. The meeting meets every two years to assess how countries are implementing their anti-corruption programs. At the same time, a discussion on how to strengthen anti-corruption activities through cooperation will also be held at the conference.<\/p>\n

The UN Convention Against Corruption is the only universally legally binding treaty to prevent corruption. 190 countries in the world have signed this agreement. The Convention was negotiated and finalized in Vienna and passed by the UN General Assembly in 2003.
