Cox’s Bazar Correspondent:<\/strong> After the long-awaited journey on the first day of the month of Vijaya, the first train, ‘Cox’s Bazar Express’ arrived in the tourist town with tourists. Atiqur Rahman, Assistant Station Master of Cox’s Bazar Railway Station, said that the train departed from Dhaka’s Kamalapur station with 1,200 passengers on Friday night and arrived at Cox’s iconic Bazar railway station at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The hundred-year dream of the people of South Chittagong, i.e., Dariyanagar, has been fulfilled through the running of commercial trains on the Cox’s Bazar-Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route.<\/p>\n

Assistant station master Atiq said that the schedule was that the first commercial train would arrive at the station at 7:30 a.m. Due to a little delay in the journey, the arrival was also delayed by half an hour. All concerned were waiting for the train to arrive. Just as the passengers going to Dhaka were greeted with flowers, the passengers who became the first tourists on the train were greeted with flowers and leaflets as soon as they got off. They were greeted by Cox’s Bazar Tourist Police and arranged to reach their respective destinations without any trouble.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, most hotel authorities have announced special discounts for tourists coming to Cox’s Bazar by rail. A 60\u201370 percent discount on accommodation is available on showing the railway ticket. 50 percent discount in star hotels and 60 percent discount in special areas. Those concerned mentioned that this initiative is to increase the number of tourists in Cox’s Bazar, which is deserted due to political instability.<\/p>\n

Abul Kashem Sikder, President of Cox’s Bazar Hotel-Guest House Owners Association, said “Cox’s Bazar Express” left Cox’s Bazar for Dhaka with 1,200 passengers on Friday afternoon. The return train arrived at Cox’s Bazar station at 8 a.m. with the same number of passengers. Most of the passengers on the trains are tourists. A 60\u201370 percent discount has been announced for these tourists. The leaders of the Hotel-Guest House Owners Association took this decision in a meeting yesterday. Tourists will get this service only by showing their train ticket at the hotel. On Saturday morning at Cox’s iconic Bazar railway station, leaflets were distributed among the tourists on behalf of the affiliated hotels. At the same time, tourists are welcomed with flowers. At this time, members of the tourist police also cooperated.<\/p>\n

Hafizur Rahman Lovelu, Managing Director (MD) of Kalatali Hotel Beach Holiday, said,The Hon’ble Prime Minister has transformed the hundred-year dream of Cox’s Bazar people into reality. We have arranged for special discounts for tourists. This offer will be available for the next seven days.<\/p>\n

The General Secretary of the Hotel-Guest House Owners Association, Shah Newaz, said that not only the people of Cox’s Bazar but the people of the whole country are happy because the train has started. People from any part of the country can easily come to Cox’s Bazar. We are happy to offer this special discount.
