Chandnaish Correspondent: The police recovered the body of a fishmonger named Varun Datta (35) with a noose attached to his neck in the house of Dohazari Hazari under the Chandnaish upazila of Chittagong. The incident took place on Sunday (October 29) in the afternoon at Dohazari’s home in the upazila.
Deceased Varun Dutta is the 3rd son of Deceased Gopal Dutta of the Dohajari Hazari family and the younger brother of Master Arun Kanti Dutta. Neighbors say that due to various family problems, he is often alone with his wife and children. He works and lives in a rented house with his wife, two sons, and two daughters. In the morning, when the little boy came to inquire about his father and started crying when he saw the noose, the local residents informed the police. At some point, the police recovered the body of the deceased after receiving the information. In the afternoon, the body of the deceased was sent to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
According to local sources, Varun used to be under a lot of stress while running household expenses. A few months ago, he tried to commit suicide by consuming poison. He took a loan of Tk 4 lakh from the local oil merchant Babla with interest. Later, if the interest comes to 9 lakhs, then pay 4 lakhs in installments. But Varun was under pressure to pay the remaining 5 lakhs. This news was confirmed by the SI in charge of the Dohazari Police Investigation Center.
