Dhaka Bureau: The editorial council has condemned the attack on journalists in the context of the BNP’s general meeting. They have expressed concern over attacks on journalists and a lack of security. In a statement on Sunday (October 29), the editorial board expressed this condemnation and concern.
On Saturday, October 28, there was a general meeting of the BNP in Nayapaltan, the capital. BNP leaders and workers clashed with the police over the rally. In this incident, two policemen were killed. Many were injured.
The editorial board said that around 25 journalists were injured or attacked in different parts of the capital while performing their professional duties centered on the BNP’s mass meeting yesterday. The editorial board called this incident very condemnable.
According to the statement of the editorial board, journalists collect news about the programs of various political parties as part of their professional duties. They presented it to the people. But it is a matter of great concern that they are attacked or compromised while performing this duty.
The editorial board has specially requested all political parties and law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of journalists while performing their professional duties.
