Dhaka Bureau: Due to today’s mass rally called by BNP-Jamaat to demand the fall of the government, the bus service between the capital and the whole country has been stopped. Transportation in the capital is not very visible. The highways are empty.
Law and order forces are searching the entrance of Dhaka, centered on the gathering of political parties. The search has been going on since this morning. Sometimes two autorickshaws and private cars are allowed to enter the city by showing good reason at the police checkpoint.
This picture is seen on the Dhaka-Narayanganj, Dhaka-Mawa-Keraniggan, Dhaka-Tangail, Dhaka-Mymensingh-Sylhet, and Chittagong routes.
Regarding bus movement, Secretary General of the Road Transport Association, Khandkar Enayet Ullah, told the media that the owners and workers have stopped the buses due to the fear of sabotage around the BNP program. If the situation is normal, the bus service will start. However, there is no direction from the association to stop the bus.
