Brahmanbaria Representative: Election Commissioner Md. Anichur Rahman said we have nothing to do with political matters. Elections will be participatory only if voters participate.
I cannot do anything beyond my duties. Still, we are hoping that maybe everyone will come to the election.
He said this while replying to the questions of the journalists before the discussion meeting with the polling officials in the Brahmanbaria-2 seat by-election on Wednesday (October 25) at noon. The meeting was organized by the district administration at the Brahmanbaria Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
Meanwhile, the election commissioner said Anichur Rahman said that we have invited 44 political parties registered in 2022 to discuss the participation of all parties in the upcoming national elections. Most of the parties have responded. Later, the Chief Election Commissioner re-invited the Secretary General of the party that did not participate in a letter signed by him.
Come, discuss, and have a cup of tea. But we cannot solve political problems, and that is not our mandate.
He said we would create an environment for elections. We strive to make the label a level playing field. They have the responsibility to participate in elections, and political parties also have some responsibility.
The Election Commissioner said that it is written in the rules of the Election Commission that they know well what will happen if they do not participate in the election. They will decide in this matter; we have nothing to do about it.
