Dhaka Bureau: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that the Ansar Battalion is not given powers to detain criminals, search bodies, or seize goods and will not be given in the future. He said, according to any law of the country, such power cannot be given to Ansar.

He said this in response to reporters’ questions after the inter-ministerial meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday (October 25).

The home minister said there is no room for misunderstanding here. I hear Ansar is taking over police power. These are misinformation and propaganda. Ansar forces have not and will not be allowed to arrest

In response to questions from reporters about the BNP’s general meeting on October 28, the minister said Bangladesh is a democratic country. Anyone can carry out peaceful political activities here. Apart from this, if anyone creates disturbance, there is danger of disturbance in public life, and then law and order forces will take action.
