Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: The Teknaf Upazila administration has announced the suspension of ship traffic on the Teknaf-Saint Martin waterway from tomorrow (October 24) due to rough seas. Tourists staying in St. Martin have therefore been instructed to leave the island before 3 p.m. today (Monday).
Teknaf Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) confirmed the matter at 1:20 PM on Monday (October 23). Adnan Chaudhary.
He said, “Currently, there are approximately one and a half thousand tourists on the island. By contacting the meteorological office, we can find out that there is hostile weather. Alerts can be raised at any moment. Therefore, as there is a high possibility of rough seas, tourists staying on Saint Martin Island have been instructed to leave the island.
UNO Adnan also said, “From tomorrow, it has been announced to stop the movement of ships in the St. Martin waterway. If tourists remain in St. Martin after the announcement, it will be impossible for the ship to bring them back. Later, if the weather and everything are fine, the ships will be allowed to sail.
Chairman of Saint Martin’s Union Parishad, Mujibur Rahman, said, ‘After receiving the instructions of the upazila administration, we informed the tourists. Many tourists are already leaving the island.
