Dhaka Bureau: The 25th and last session of Jatiya Sangsad has started. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury today (October 22) at 4 p.m.
At the beginning of the session, a recitation from the Holy Quran was given. After that, the speaker announced the names of the members of the presidium. Later, he raised a condolence proposal. Before this, a meeting of the working advisory committee of the parliament was held.
Parliament Leader and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in the concluding speech of the 24th session on September 14, ‘Another session of the current Parliament will be held in October; that will be the last session. After that, the next national parliament election will be held.
According to the constitution, Parliament has an obligation to convene the next session within 60 days of the end of a session. The 24th session of Parliament started on September 3 and ended on September 14.
Incidentally, the last meeting of the previous tenth Parliament was held on October 29, 2018. The election commission announced the schedule for the 11th parliamentary elections on November 8 of that year, and the polls were held on December 30.
