Dhaka Bureau: Central President of the Bangabandhu Research Council, Md. Lion Gani Mia Babul said that to build Bangabandhu’s dream of Sonar Bangla, i.e., smart Bangladesh, children should be raised in the spirit of Sheikh Russell. Children should be educated in the ideals of Bangabandhu and in the spirit of the liberation war. The losers of the Great War of Liberation brutally killed Bangabandhu along with his family on August 15, 1975. Among the murderers convicted in the killing of the martyrs of August 15, including the child Sheikh Russell, who are absconding abroad, the execution of the death sentence has turned into a popular demand today. Sheikh Russell has become a symbol of the oppressed children of the world today. Bangabandhu’s self-confessed murderers wanted to wipe out the legacy of Bangabandhu’s blood by killing the child Sheikh Russell. But their efforts ended in failure. Shaheed Sheikh Russell is a beloved name among children, teenagers, young people, and intelligent people in Bangladesh today.
On the occasion of Sheikh Russell Day 2023 and Bangabandhu’s youngest son Sheikh Russell’s 60th auspicious birthday, he said these things as the chief negotiator at the doa mahfil, discussion meeting, and cultural program organized by the Bangladesh Union Parishad Member Welfare Association Central Committee in Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad Seminar Hall in Dhaka.
Bangladesh Union Parishad Member Welfare Association Central Committee President Anwar Hossain Chowdhury presided over, and General Secretary Md. Dr. Shahidullah Sikder, former Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, spoke as the opening speaker in the program moderated by Hashem Chowdhury. The vice chancellor of Global University spoke as the chief guest. Anisuzzaman.
The chairman of Mohanganj Upazila Parishad spoke as a special guest. Zakir Hossain, Comilla Zilla Parishad member Major (retd) Habibur Rahman Majumdar, organization advisor Syed Md. Belal Hossain, and prominent cultural personalities Ataullah Khan, Vice President of the Mohanganj Upazila Awami League Tajul Islam Chowdhury and others.
At the end of the discussion, a special doa mahfil was held to seek the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs of August 15 and the prosperity of the country and the nation, including Sheikh Russell.
