Faridpur Correspondent: The arrested accused are Mamun (40), son of Ismail of Joydevpur village in Ishangopalpur union of Faridpur Sadar Upazila, and Alamgir (52) son of Badsha Molla of Gowalchamot area of the city.
Locals said that at 9:30 in the morning, four terrorists tried to pick up a SSC exam candidate from the school in front of the school in a white microbus. On the way, a motorcyclist noticed the matter and stopped the microbus. The terrorists tried to escape when locals came forward with the screams of the student while being picked up in the microbus. Three of them were arrested by the locals and handed over to the police. Excited school students and locals set fire to the microbus. On receiving the information, the fire service personnel went to the spot and brought the fire under control. Police arrested three people on the spot.
Gopal Chandra Biswas, head teacher of the school, confirmed the matter and said that the incident happened on the way to the school for the 10th grade girl to take the exam.
Confirming the truth of the incident, Faridpur Kotyali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) MA Jalil said, “Some miscreants with a microbus tried to kidnap a student of that school. They fail in the face of obstacles from their classmates. At that time, two people were arrested and mobbed by locals and students. Among them, one seriously injured person is being treated at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital. The students set fire to the microbus used by the miscreants. Later, a fire service team reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
