Dhaka Bureau: The Election Commission will hold a meeting of the pre-election observation team of the United States on the occasion of the upcoming National Assembly elections. On Tuesday, October 10, at 11:00 a.m., the US representatives will hold a meeting with the Election Commission, headed by Kazi Habibul Awal.
The EC says that Washington-based IRI (International Republican Institute) and NADI (National Democratic Institute) will meet with the EC. The two organizations work on the development of democratic practices, including election monitoring, in various countries.
Officials say their pre-election observation team will arrive. It may discuss various laws and processes related to election monitoring. The 12th National Assembly election schedule may be in the first half of November. And polling will be held from the last week of December to the first week of January.
Last Saturday, six members of the United States pre-election observation team arrived in Dhaka to verify the situation before the 12th National Assembly elections. From October 8 to 12, the 6-member delegation will meet government officials, political party leaders, election authorities, civil society, and others related to the election.
