Rangunia Correspondent: Awami Jubo League activist Manjur Hossain (35) was shot dead by masked miscreants in Rangunia upazila.
The incident took place in the Shantiniketan area of Ward No. 6 of Rangunia Municipality on Sunday (October 8) evening. He is the son of the deceased Gunnu Mia of Ward No. 5 of the Self-Employed Rangunia Union of Manjur Upazila and the former publicity secretary of the Union Jubo League.
The miscreants reportedly shot him twice in the leg and beat him severely with a stick. An hour after the incident, the locals rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Center, where the doctor declared him dead.
According to the police and locals, Manjur was hanging out with his friend in the Shantiniketan area of Rangunia Municipality in the evening. Suddenly, a group of masked miscreants ambushed them. Two bullets pierced Manjur’s leg. At that time, miscreants beat him severely with sticks. Secander, who was with him, fled.
Swanirbhar Rangunia, UP Chairman Nurullah said, I don’t know who shot and killed Manzoor.
General Secretary of the Upazila Jubo League Yunuch said that Manjur is a Jubo League worker. I went to see him in the hospital. I cannot say the reason for the murder at the moment.
Khan Nurul Islam, police inspector of Ranguniar police station, said that there were bullet marks on both legs of Manjur. There are wounds in different parts of the body. An autopsy will be conducted on the body. The reason for the murder can be determined by investigating the incident.
