Md. Ayub Miyaji, Chandnaish: Two people were killed and three injured in a three-way collision between a bus, a motorcycle, and an autorickshaw in the Dohazari municipality area of Chandnaish upazila of Chittagong.
The incident took place on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway on Sunday (October 8) at 2:30 p.m. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dohazari Highway Police Station, Md. Khan Erfan, said that first a bus of Unique Paribahan hit the motorcycle. The bus then hit another battery-operated rickshaw. Five people were injured. They were rescued and admitted to the Dohazari Health Complex. Two of the five were declared dead by the doctor on duty. One of them is Mridul Kanti Nath (60), son of deceased Chaita Charanya Nath, the egg trader of Ward No. 1, Chagachar Nath Para of Dohazari Municipality, and another is Hanif Paribahan, a helper of Dhaka Metro (B 14-0899). He is Abdullah (35), son of Abdul Latif of Cox’s Bazar Dwipakul area. On the other hand, the injured are Amir Hossain, son of Zebul Haque of the Bandarban Sadar area, and Qutub Minar, son of Abu Taher. Another autorickshaw driver was taken to Chittagong Medical Center for advanced treatment.
Eyewitnesses said, Dhaka Metto. The vehicle of B 14-6049 Unique Paribahan hit the motorcycle first on its way from Cox’s Bazar towards Chittagong. The bus rammed the autorickshaw while fleeing at reckless speed to avoid a speeding fine. When the Hanif Paribahan worker tried to give food to his driver, he also ran away with the help of the general public, District Police (TI) Tofail, the bus, and the son of Golam Hossain of the Chakria Harbang area. The driver, named Mofizur Rahman, was also arrested.
