Own Correspondent: 1 housewife and 1 child drowned in canal water due to lightning in Barahatia Union in Lohagara, South Chittagong. Janu Akhter (30), a housewife, died due to lightning in Haji Para, Ward No. 2 of Barahatia Union, on Sunday, September 17, around 5 p.m.
This housewife lost her life due to lightning while working in the paddy field near the residence in the afternoon. Housewife Janu Akhtar is said to be the wife of Nurul Alam of Atra Haji Para and the mother of three daughters. The housewife was buried in the family cemetery on Monday morning, September 18. Barahatia UP member Mamunor Rashid and Shah Alam of Haji Para confirmed the death of the housewife due to lightning.
On the other hand, a child named Pritam Bara (7) drowned in the water of the canal in Barua Para of Ward No. 1 of the same union. According to local sources, the child died around 9 a.m. on Monday, September 18. The child goes to the local Bodhiniketan Vihar for religious education. Unnoticed by others, he falls into a nearby canal.
Later, while searching, his body was found in the water of the canal, some distance from the spot. Child Pritam Bara is the son of local Emu Barua and a student of Garangia Sonakania Government Primary School. This was confirmed by Barahatia UP member Abu Bakar.
SI Farooq Ahmad of Chunati police outpost under Lohagara police station visited the spot after receiving the news. He said that a wrongful death case has been filed in this regard.
