Comilla Correspondent: A volunteer league leader named Nizam Sarkar (40) was killed in a clash between two groups of the Awami League in Meghna, Comilla. At least 10 people were injured in this incident. They have been admitted to Dhaka Medical. This incident took place in Chalibhanga village of the upazila around 7 a.m. on Monday, September 18.
The injured are Anis Sarkar (18), Titu Sarkar (28), Suman (25), Delwar (28), Ibrahim (30), Ramzan (35), Shakeel (22), Khaled Hasan (19), Hanif (45), and Wasim (35). The deceased Nizam’s house is in Nalchar village of the upazila. His father’s name is Akkas Member. He is the joint convener of the Chalibhanga Union Volunteer League.
He also has a sand business. His wife Salma Akhtar and brother Sanaullah Sarkar said that there was a clash between two groups of the Awami League in Chalibhanga in the morning. Hearing the news, Nizam went to the spot from home. After going there, he was also beaten by the opponent. Besides Nizam, several people were injured. All of them were brought to Dhaka Medical.
Then the doctor declared Nizam dead. Relatives of the deceased, including Sirajul Islam, said that the clash between Upazila Parishad member Qawyum and Chalibhanga Union Chairman Humayun Kabir’s group The deceased belonged to the group of Nizam Union Svechchasevak League leader and union chairman.
In charge of Dhaka Medical Police Camp, Bachchu Mia said that the body has been kept in the morgue. The injured are under treatment in the emergency department. Some of them are in serious condition.
