Kurigram representative: Two brothers were lost exactly 25 years ago today. Then on Saturday (September 16) morning, he returned home to Gopalpur North Sarkatari village of Santoshpur union of Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram. Maidul Islam (30). But elder brother Matiar Rahman (35) is still missing. The whole family is happy to have Maidul Islam back. It has been found that the two sons of Abdus Samad and Banesha Begum of Gopalpur, North Sarkatari village, are Maidul Islam and Motiar Rahman.
When they were five to seven years old, their parents separated due to family conflicts. Later, he married Banesha Begum elsewhere. He came first to Rangpur with Maidul and Matiar, then to Gaibandha, and later to Dhaka.
Although Banesha Begum married her second husband in Dhaka, her two sons lived in other people’s homes. Within a few days, these two brothers were thrown out of the house on the charge of theft. Since then, they have disappeared. After much searching, the mother gave up hope of finding her son. But the father’s family did not give up hope.
At one stage of many searches, the family found Maidul Islam in an event called ‘Apan Adresha’ through social media.
However, the elder brother, Matiar Rahman, is still not found. Abdus Samad, the father of Maidul Islam and Matiar Rahman, hopes that one day he will find his eldest son too.
