Dhaka Bureau: The service of the people coming to the passport office should be ensured. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that he does not want to hear the word uh from the people who come to take passport service. He said these things at the inauguration ceremony of the Regional Passport Offices in Dhaka East (Aftabnagar) and Dhaka West (Mohammedpur) and the Passport Office (Call Center) in front of the Passport Office in Aftabnagar on Sunday (September 10) at noon. Addressing the officials of the newly inaugurated passport office, the minister said that people will get benefits from the two new offices.

Will accept service. To those who will work here, I will say, You will serve the people, and you are for the service of the people. We don’t even want to hear the ‘Uh’ sound of people coming for passport services. The more you serve them, the more reputation you will gain. In this regard, he also said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced in 2008 that Bangladesh would be developed as a digital country. Since this announcement, we have taken over the MRP passport.

We faced many hurdles in taking up MRP. After overcoming all the hurdles, MRP was introduced. Then we step into the world of e-passports. The quality of our passports is also slowly improving. As earlier, our passport quality was on the low side, but now it is slowly improving and going up. Our passport is already recognized as world-class. Will go further. The minister said, We have now started our journey towards smart Bangladesh from digital Bangladesh.

The e-passport and e-gate of immigration are bearing a hint of Smart Bangladesh. Besides, e-Visa is also going to be launched very soon. We are also going to launch passenger advance information. Although it is not under our ministry, arrangements are being made to launch passenger advance information on behalf of civil aviation. When it is launched, if a passenger buys a ticket, we will know who is coming to Bangladesh or who is going abroad from Bangladesh.

We have been able to launch e-passport services from 71 passport offices in the country and a total of 32 locations abroad. We will soon launch the e-passport service from every place where we have passport offices abroad. E-Gate was launched at Immigration. Even if a passenger wants to go there, immigration policemen are discouraging the passengers; there is a lot of incoordination. When asked to know the steps taken in this regard, the home minister said in response to the questions of the reporters, “It is still running on a trial basis. Minor inconsistencies happen before anything else.

You move into a new house and find that the lights don’t work properly. The water is not passing properly in Suarez. We are taking immediate action on those that come to our attention. I will definitely see to it that the e-gate is managed properly. Director General of the Immigration and Passport Department, Major General Md., chaired by Nurul Anwar, President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Ministry Benazir Ahmed, Member of Parliament of Dhaka-13 Parliamentary Constituency Sadek Khan, and Secretary of the Security Services Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs also spoke at the event.
