Dhaka Bureau: The 9th Bilateral Security Dialogue between Bangladesh and the US is being held in Dhaka today. Deputy Assistant Minister of Political-Military Affairs Bureau Mira Reznik came to Dhaka on Monday (September 4) to lead the US delegation in this dialogue. The Bangladesh delegation in the dialogue will be led by Masudur Alam, Director General of the North America Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Reznik’s arrival in Dhaka was confirmed by the US Embassy in Dhaka in a message on X (former Twitter). In that message, Mira Reznik, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Political-Military Affairs of the United States, is welcome. He has come to Dhaka for the US-Bangladesh bilateral security dialogue. The US delegation will discuss regional development, human rights, security assistance, and counterterrorism.
The US and Bangladesh have a strong security partnership, a US Embassy statement said. The Indo-Pacific region shares much. Both countries aim to build a free, open, peaceful, and secure Indo-Pacific. To achieve this mutual goal, we hold various dialogues throughout the year. The security dialogue is being held after the bilateral defense dialogue on August 23 and 24 in Dhaka.
The dialogue will discuss the relationship between the two countries’ militaries, military education, peacekeeping operations, upcoming military exercises, and disaster response exercises in the coming year. The eighth security dialogue between the two countries was held in April 2022. The dialogue held in Washington, DC, was led by Foreign Secretary Masoud Bin Momen and US Undersecretary for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie Jenkins.
