Dhaka Bureau: Navy Chief Vice Admiral M. Nazmul Hasan has been promoted to the rank of Admiral. Acting Army Chief Lt. Gen. Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan conferred the rank of Admiral on the Chief of Navy in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban on Sunday (September 3). Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) informed the public of this information in a press release.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina congratulated Navy Chief M. Nazmul Hasan on his promotion to the rank of admiral. In the morning, he greeted the Navy Chief with flowers at Ganobhaban. Acting Army Chief Lieutenant General Ataul Hakeem Sarwar Hassan and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan conferred the rank of Admiral on the Chief of Navy in the presence of the Prime Minister. On July 24, Nazmul Hasan assumed responsibility as Bangladesh Navy chief. He was commissioned in the Bangladesh Navy on July 1, 1986. During a long and distinguished career, he held various staff, instructional, and command positions.
He served as Assistant Chief of Naval Operations (Operations), Assistant Chief of Naval Operations (Personnel), Director of Naval Operations and Naval Intelligence, and Director General of the Directorate of Civil-Military Liaison in the Armed Forces Department. He served as the captain of four warships, including the Bangladesh Navy’s training warship, Banouja Omar Farooq. Besides, he is the Commandant of the Bangladesh Naval Academy and the Commandant of Naval Aviation and Special Forces (SWADS) of the Bangladesh Navy. During his military career, he served as Commander BN Fleet and Commander Chittagong Naval Region. During this time, he kept the process of resettlement for Myanmar citizens who were forcibly displaced in Bhashanchar going smoothly.
Moreover, he played a special role in rehabilitating the homeless and poor by implementing shelter projects under the Prime Minister’s Office in remote coastal areas. As the Commander of the Chittagong Naval Region, he served as the chief organizer of the International Fleet Review (IFR) 2022, held for the first time in the presence of the Prime Minister at Inani, Cox’s Bazar.
