NATOR Correspondent: Rape-victim’s pregnant class IV girl gives birth to a baby girl. The 11-year-old child gave birth to the newborn through caesarean section at Gurdaspur Upazila Health Complex at around 12 noon on Saturday (September 2). Both mother and newborn are healthy. A six-member team of doctors, including junior consultant gynecologist Nargis Tanima Ferdous and anesthesia doctor Ferdous Rahman, performed a caesarean operation on the child.

According to the police, in the case of the rape victim’s grandmother, the rapist Zahidul Khan was recently arrested from Helencha village of Alfadanga upazila of Faridpur. Since then the rapist Zahidul is in prison. According to the child’s family, the child was raped in November last year, but the child’s grandmother filed a rape case on June 18 as a plaintiff.
The next day, on June 19, the court accepted the statement of the child under section 164 in the Women and Children Torture Prevention Tribunal. The plaintiff’s grandmother said that now they demand exemplary punishment of the rapist. The child’s uncle said that both the child’s parents are married separately and live elsewhere.
