Dhaka Bureau: 23rd The Chief Justice of the country, Hasan Faiz Siddiqui, has commented that the nation will have to wait for bad days if they lose faith in the judiciary. But if you lose faith in the judiciary, that nation will have to wait for bad times.

If the judiciary fails or backs away from impartial application of the law, the state and its citizens are bound to suffer. The Judiciary is the guardian of the fundamental rights of the people, besides protecting the supremacy of the Constitution. An independent judiciary is essential for the development of a truly participatory democracy, the preservation of the rule of law, and the establishment of rights and social justice for the weaker sections of society.

Every citizen will have to wait for doomsday if we, you, fail to fulfill that duty. It does not augur well for the judiciary when political divisions cross the street and run towards the court. We have to remember that the divisions and differences of lawyers and their reactions damage the judiciary. The judiciary is comfortable with implementing political ideology politically and keeping the judiciary at a safe distance.
