Kushtia Correspondent: A young man named Rakibul (23) has been arrested by the police for molesting a student (17) because she did not agree to a love proposal in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia. On Sunday (August 27), around 11:30 a.m., the accused was sent to jail by the court. Earlier, he was arrested last night in the Radhagram area of Kaya Union of the upazila. Rakibul is the son of Mintu Sheikh in that area.
However, the originator of this incident, Shaheen Sheikh (30), is still absconding. The police are conducting an operation to arrest him. Shaheen is the son of Jamal Sheikh of Jahedpur village in Shilaidah Union. It is known that Shaheen had been proposing love and marriage to the college girl for a long time. Shaheen and Rakibul blocked the way for the student and her girlfriend on their way back from college on Thursday afternoon.
Shaheen then took off his face scarf, dragged him into the arena, and assaulted and molested him for about 20 minutes. Later, the locals rescued the two students and delivered them to their relatives. In this incident, the girl’s father became the plaintiff and filed a case under the Prevention of Torture against Women and Children Act. The main accused in the case, Shahin, is absconding, but his accomplice, Rakibul, has been arrested by the police. The victim student said that Shaheen had been offering me love and marriage for a long time. For not agreeing to the proposal, they slapped and molested me. I want exemplary punishment for this.
