Dhaka Bureau: Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (BAPEX) has found gas reserves by digging abandoned well No. 1 of Sylhet Division’s Biyanibazar gas field.

On Thursday (November 10), BAPEX confirmed the presence of gas reserves in this well. The company said that extraction from this well will be started soon.

The stakeholders expect to get 10 million cubic feet of gas from this well every day. Earlier on September 10, BAPEX started digging this well in Biyanibazar.

According to the sources of Sylhet Gas Fields Limited, there are two wells in Biyanibazar gas field under Sylhet gas field. Production started in 1999 from well number 1. It was closed in 2014.

Production started again at the beginning of 2016 and production stopped at the end of that year. Since then excavations have started again from this abandoned well.
