Own Correspondent: The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel, built under the Karnaphuli River, will be inaugurated on October 28. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the tunnel on that day. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said this in a press conference at the conference room of Setu Bhaban on Monday (August 14).
The bridge minister said that the Dhaka Elevated Expressway section from Shahjalal International Airport (Kaola) to Farmgate will be inaugurated on September 2, and South Asia’s first Bangabandhu Tunnel will be inaugurated on October 28 in Chittagong’s Karnaphuli River.
At the same time, Dhaka’s first metro rail from Uttara to Motijheel will be inaugurated in the middle of October. The minister said we have been working since the Sheikh Hasina government took charge. The biggest project, Padma Bridge, has been completed.
The government’s income from the Padma Bridge has been given to the Prime Minister in two installments of Tk 632 crore. Later, the Prime Minister gave it to the Finance Secretary.
