Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, I don’t know if my father was out of jail for two years continuously, but I never saw my mother disappointed. He always took care of the house and family. He said these things at the 93rd birth anniversary celebration and medal ceremony of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nescha Mujib at Osmani Smriti Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday (August 8) morning.

The prime minister said that on August 15, the group of assassins not only killed President Sheikh Mujib but also killed my mother, brother, and their brides. 18 members of the family were brutally killed. He said 90 percent of people in this country were poor. About 80 percent of people lived below the poverty line. There was no other way to satisfy their hunger. Didn’t get treatment. They had no room to stay. Building the fortunes of these deprived people was the sole aim and pursuit of the father of the nation.

The head of the government said, “I have never heard of poverty in my mother’s mouth.” He walked with boldness. Problems arise within the team. Maulana Bhasani left the party. Then my father left the ministry to take charge of the party. Amma never complained about this. He accepted with a smile. Always stayed by her husband’s side. I have never seen my mother break down after going through ups and downs in my life.

Sheikh Hasina said she came out in 1960, was arrested again in 1962, was arrested again in 1964, and was arrested again in 1966. When my mother used to visit my father at the district station, she used to say, – I will see to it that you don’t have to worry about your family. If Father was in prison, he would also do teamwork. He said that his father’s struggle was for the freedom of the country. No one in the world should know this, but Mother knew. Because my father and mother used to talk about the words all the time.

The Prime Minister said, “My mother has also been interrogated repeatedly by Pakistan’s intelligence agencies.” Attempts were made to implicate the mother in the case. At one stage, some leaders of Pakistan and some leaders of the Awami League came up with a proposal of 8 points instead of 6 points. My mother had an amazing memory. He used to listen and tell those words to his father in prison. Abba used to convey the instructions he gave to the leaders and workers.

The head of government said that Ayub Khan asked Abba to release him on parole and discuss My mother said there was no parole either. Ayub Khan will withdraw the case. Will leave everyone. Go as a free man. When Abba did not go on parole, our leaders came home and said, You know? They (Pakistanis) will kill you; you will become a widow. Then the mother said, There are more leaders; their wives will also be widows. I will try to stay alone forever, except for them. You can imagine how strong my mother was.

Najma Mubarek, Secretary of the Concerned Ministry, also spoke at the event under the chairmanship of State Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs, Fazilatun Necha Indira.
