Brave freedom fighter Nurul Islam, representative of Chittagong South District: 4 days of continuous rains and mountain water inundated the Lohagara area of South Chittagong and people’s life has come to a standstill. The water of various canals and streams flowing over Lohagara has overflowed and the ponds and canals have become monotonous. Many household ponds and fisheries have been flooded with fish.
As a result, the owners of the ponds and fisheries suffered huge financial losses, the victims said. People in flooded areas are busy making nets. Shahpir Road and Post Office Road of Lohagara Union have been submerged in water and the movement of people has been cut off. Amirabad Union Parishad Chairman said that the lower area has been flooded by the water of Tongkabati River and Dulu Canal.
Rajghata Road and Amir Khan Chowdhury Para-Ghonapara Road of the area have broken. About 100 raw houses of the union were destroyed.
Padua Union Parishad Chairman said that various places of the area have been submerged in water. Padua Naoghata Dhwartek area is flooded due to the collapse of the shark tank and the people of the area are trapped in water.
Putibila Union Parishad Chairman said that the Emchar Hut of the area has been flooded by the water of the nearby Dolukhaal. Shopkeepers also suffered huge losses. Darvesh drowned in water at two places in Putibila on DC Road. It is known from various sources that the water of Dolukhal in Adhunagar union has overflowed and the lower area has sunk. Sepahi Para and Shah Majidiya roads have broken the communication of the people of the area.
The people of Ela are suffering a lot. Chunti Union Parishad Chairman said that the people of Satgarh and Farenga villages of the union have become watertight. Satgarh area has suffered huge damage due to failure of Hatyar Canal.
Kalauzan Union Parishad Chairman said that the water of Tongkabati river has caused huge damage to seasonal crops.
Chairman of Charamba Union Parishad said that communication has been cut off due to road collapse in various places including Rajghata, Maizbila, Bayar Para.
The lower area of Barahatia Union of the upazila has been flooded and public life has become. Due to continuous rains, the hardworking people of the area are not able to work.
Area upazila Sadar Battali motor station along with the area’s bazaars have very little traffic. As a result, the income generation of the rickshaw drivers has also decreased. In this, they have to struggle to bear the expenses of the family.
