Sukanth Bikash Dhar, Satkania: A meeting of the Upazila Disaster Management Committee was held under the chairmanship of the Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Milton Biswas on the initiative of the Upazila administration to avoid the suffering caused by heavy rains and landslides in Satkania.
Today (Monday) at around 11 am in the meeting held at the upazila parishad auditorium, the steps taken by the upazila administration during the flood were presented in the meeting. The steps are to open a control room in the upazila, The chairman of the concerned union and all the stakeholders to deal with the disaster in a coordinated manner, miking to warn people, moving the vulnerable people living at the foot of the hill to safe shelters, keeping the required number of shelters ready in each union, coordinating with the upazila administration, the union chairmen visit the water-logged areas and provide them with dry food and It is urged to continue the distribution of relief. At that time, the Vice Chairman of the Upazila Parishad, Salauddin Hasan Chowdhury, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Arafat Siddiqui, Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Md. Kamrul Islam, chairmen of various unions and media workers were present.
Apart from this, officials of different departments of Upazila Parishad, NGOs, Fire Service and representatives of Water Development Board were present. Satkania Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Milton Biswas said, based on the damage, relief has been allocated in favor of the union chairmen.
Upazila Engineer and Water Development Board are requested to take immediate action in case of road or river erosion. Requested to call the control room in any situation. Apart from this, upazila administration disaster management and upazila red crescent volunteer team, upazila medical and animal resources team have been kept ready.
