According to this provision, to bring government officials and employees under the insurance service, the necessary information for the formation of an independent insurance company under the Bangladesh Employee Welfare Board was presented in the board meeting on February 15. In that meeting, the necessity and rationale of forming an independent insurance company, proposals received from Life Insurance Corporation, advantages and disadvantages, etc.

In the board meeting, the proposal to appoint an insurance expert person or organization as a consultant for the purpose of forming an insurance company was also approved. After that, the Bangladesh Employee Welfare Board sent a letter to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration on April 11, seeking the approval of the Ministry of Public Administration to form an independent insurance company under the Bangladesh Employee Welfare Board and to appoint a consultant and determine the scope of work of the consultant.

It has been said in the letter that the proposed formation of an independent insurance company is applicable to all government officials and employees at the central and field levels, and as per the Rules of Business, the opinions of all concerned ministries and departments as well as all stakeholders are required.

An official of the Ministry of Public Administration said that an independent insurance company will be formed under the Bangladesh Employee Welfare Board after getting the opinions of the concerned parties.
