Dhaka Bureau: EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said that Facebook’s campaign will be under the control of the Election Commission to prevent false propaganda in the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections. He gave this information to reporters after a meeting with Facebook representatives at the Agargaon election building in the capital on Thursday (August 3) at 11:00 am.
Ashok Kumar also said that Facebook will block content as per EC directives. He said that a three-member delegation headed by Rujan Sarwar, head of public policy for Facebook’s parent company Mater Bangladesh, came to Bangladesh from Singapore for a meeting. Also present on behalf of the organization were Aidan Hei and Ejinen Fo. On the other hand, additional secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath, project director of IDEA project Brigadier General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Sayem and NID system manager Muhammad Ashraf Hossain were present on behalf of Election Commission.
