The Crime Desk: Italy has shown interest in hiring more manpower from Bangladesh. Italian ministers have shown this interest in a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs briefed reporters after the meeting with the Prime Minister on Monday (July 24) with Italian Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Interior Matteo Piantedosi, and Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio. He said that the issue of illegal workers also came up in the meeting due to the emphasis of the Italian ministers and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on maintaining proper channels when going abroad.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that her country has always discouraged illegal workers. Noting that both legal and illegal workers are contributing to the economies of Italy and even Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina urged the Italian government to legalize illegal workers who are well-educated and skilled.
