The Crime Desk: Protests erupted in France after a teenager was shot dead by the police. In this situation, the Bangladesh Embassy in Paris has called on Bangladeshis living in the country to be careful. This call was made in a public warning notice from the embassy on Sunday (July 2).
On June 27, a 17-year-old boy was shot dead by police in the suburb of Place Noster, near Paris, the release said. After this incident, violent protests and riots spread in different cities of France including Paris.
According to online news media and eyewitness accounts, widespread rioting, looting and arson are taking place in Bejones, Genivilliers, Gargin-nes-Gonesse, Assinières-sur-Seine, Montreuil, Neuillypour-Maroon, Flammat, Meudon, as well as Marseille and Rokhdo.
Thousands of people have been arrested by the forces engaged in maintaining law and order. Traffic restrictions have been imposed in some areas of France, including curfews, to control the situation. In such a situation, expatriate Bangladeshis living in France are requested to respect local laws and avoid conflict areas with caution.
